ATTENDING A SHOW
-
Messy Mic is a live, interactive storytelling series that’s part show, part social hang, fully human.
But we’re more than an event, we’re a movement. Here to amplify voices, celebrate the messy, unpolished moments of life, and spark real connection.
Through bold storytelling and shared experience, we’re building a community where everyone’s story has a place.

Granny Talk is Messy Mic’s debut series.
Grannies take the stage and share their wisdom, humor, and messy stories.
We’re amplifying voices that too often go unheard, especially from those who didn’t have the mic when they were younger.
And who better to spill the TEA they’ve been waiting to share.
-
After the 2 hour show, we wind down with an optional 1 hour social mixer to connect with the speakers, hosts, and community!

-
Nooo. Messy Mic is for anyone. No stage experience required, just some guts & willingness to be vulnerable with us.
-
True, personal stories that connect, surprise, or move people.
They can be funny, sad, awkward, inspiring… or a mix of all four. The messier, the better though. Those stories are what have made us who we are today.
-
For the selected speakers, yes. Most stories are 5–8 minutes on stage. That’s about 750–1,200 words if written out.
But after the stories, comes the in-real-time discussion amongst the speakers AND then the audience Q&A.
-
Either is fine! We encourage you to be familiar with your story so you can connect with the audience, but reading from notes is totally welcome.
-
Not official “coaching” but if you’re selected as a speaker, you will do a lil workshop / run through with a host or team member. The other speakers will hear your story for the first time on the stage!
-
We value honesty and vulnerability, but we also want a safe, respectful space for everyone. No hate speech, harassment, or intentional harm. Sensitive topics are welcome but should be handled thoughtfully.
-
It means you can be PART of the show, but ONLY if you volunteer.
Expect some larger interactive bits but in terms of grabbing the mic, you can self-submit at intermissions to be an audience wildcard story in part 2 or raise your hand for audience Q&A with the speakers.
-
NOPE! This is not back in your school days, I promise. You can get as involved or not as you want.
Wildcard speakers & audience Q&A are all self-appointed.
